In 1988 Nigro lived in Bisbane, Autralia for six months. Here she developed her series "Love Girls" which was exhibited as part of the International Women Artists Exhibition, Brisbane. The exhibition was appropriately dubbed 'The Broad Perspective' as it brought together a cross section of styles and messages, feminist thoughts and politics. The New Zealand component, including Nigro’s works were exhibited as part of "NZ Artists ’ Works on Paper" at the Mezzanine Gallery. She was also invited to give a seminar on her life and works at the Women Artists Association of Queensland.
"Love Girls" refer to the fragility of Australian ethnic society in North Queensland. The young rural women their youth altered by the expectations placed upon them. Their loss of innocence is symbolized by a butterfly.
